About Us
Blue River Soccer Association (BRSA) is affiliated with Indiana Youth Soccer (IYS) and United States Soccer Federation (USSF) that are recognized and governed by the Federal International Football Association (FIFA). BRSA is supervised by a Board of directors and requires all members to abide by the BRSA Code of Ethics.
Recreation
The recreation program offers players of all skills and abilities the opportunity to participate in a fun team based environment. Registrations for spring season run October 15th thru January 31st and May 15th thru July 4th for the fall season. BRSA typically fields teams in the age groups of 3 thru 17 and offers an adult league in some seasons.
The Under 4 and Under 6 division requires parents/coaches to referee and organize the small sided 4 vs 4 games without a goal keeper that are directed toward fun and physical involvement.
The Under 8 is small sided, 6 vs 6, with a goal keeper that emphasis’s more individual development. The Under 10 age group consists of 8 vs 8 and begins to introduce the developing player into a team based environment while expanding individual skills and knowledge.
The Under 12 division expands the teams to a full 11 vs 11 a side game structure. Team tactics are introduced to expand on the player’s knowledge of the game and an advanced involvement in individual skills.
COMPETITIVE
The competitive travel program is affiliated with Central Indiana Youth Soccer League (CIYSL), IYS, and USSF and offers players the ability to advance their skills and compete with players from other communities in a more competitive environment. The BRSA travel program offers players a more competitive atmosphere for playing soccer.
Tryouts are held in the fall after the season is over (November) for the next spring season and in the summer (July) for the following fall season.
Travel teams require more commitment from players and parents. Coaches will determine practice times and schedules however teams typically practice two to three times per week. The travel season currently consist of 8 games. 4 games will be played at home and 4 games will be played at the away sites designated by CIYSL.
This may require travel as far north as Kokomo, west to Greencastle and south to Bloomington.
BRSA will cover the application fees to one tournament. Teams may participate in as many tournaments as coaches and parents agree on at cost to participants. Age divisions each season depend on the population of players that attend each season’s try-out sessions. BRSA has in the past formed teams of the age groups from 9 thru 16.
